As stated at the start of our review, we just couldn’t see a practical use for such a device, aside from long journeys. However being Wi-Fi it’s not airplane safe… After using the Wi-Drive for some time we saw its potential but still feel it’s for a niche market, Home users would be more suited with a dedicated storage setup.
We had some initial concerns about how the device worked, with users needing to connect wirelessly, this would render they connection to the internet (Wifi Routers) null. Thankfully Kingston has overcome this by allowing the Wi-Drive to bridge with your connection at home or work.
In short The software is basic but user-friendly, it’s performs well with all files we tested even 1080p videos. It’s an interesting product and well styled and available in range of capacities. We’d like to see a new version with improved software and overcome this hot in use issue.
